skin resurfacing programs

Having a good skincare routine can be very beneficial to the skin. It can help you to improve your skins health, and prevent irritation that can sometimes be caused by using too many products, or the wrong type of products / ingredients and strengths.

Skin specialists are able to analyse your skin and recommend a routine that is most suitable to your skin type and condition. Having a regular, simplified routine allows the skin specialist the opportunity to assess the skins response to the recommended skincare and to make changes where necessary, this may include the introduction of additional products as the skin adapts and becomes more resilient, and as the natural microbiome becomes healthier.  Improved skin health can be achieved over time when a good routine is followed.

YOUR SKIN CARE JOURNEY

Our skin specialists recognise and understand that everyone is at different stages of their skincare journey. Taking the first step is much easier when you are supported.

UNDER 40’S CARE

EARLY SIGNS OF SKIN AGEING

Our UNDER 40’S CARE routine is for those who are experiencing early signs of skin ageing (fine lines). Generally this age group sees fine lines emerging around the eye contour area, and our eye cream (Ultim-eyes cream) can be added to the routine to help restore the collagen and to improve circulation within the eye contour area. Additionally Ultim-eyes mask is another excellent product that can help to reduce eye fat bags and dark eye circles, results are seen after just 3 applications.

ADDING TO YOUR ROUTINE

Additional products that can be introduced into your routine, include: Ultim-eyes cream, and Ultim-eyes mask.

Triple acid peeling mask is an excellent product to use twice per month to improve skin resurfacing, or the caviar liquid mask is nice for a more regular mask treatment and it includes retinol.

  2. Monsoon mist tone & peel
  3. PHA activator / Retin-oil booster or Squalane RETINOL
  4. Hydration sparkle / or repair cream for skin cycling

There are multiple ways to use the activators and retinol. As a general rule you can use an activator at night. If you are incorporating one of the three retinol products then we suggest using retinol 1 – 2 nights per week and the other nights should be the activator. Retinol use can be increased over time for some skin types, however we always recommend that you consult your skin specialist first before increasing the amount of retinol that you use.

We would like to emphasis that skin cycling is a real advantage when you are attending a course of ekseption peels or attending various ekseption peel treatments throughout the year to boost your resurfacing results. We recommend skin cycling when you are undertaking ekseption peels because it regulates and controls the level of exfoliation,  retinol, regeneration and repair. It is a simple routine to follow and allows the skin to go through the correct processes without much thought on your part. It also helps to prevent irritation that can be caused by using too much retinol, or exfoliating too often, or at the wrong time.

If you are going to follow the skin cycling routine then we suggest that you visit the skin cycling page here.

If skin cycling you would start night 1 with your pha activator, then night 2 would be the  retin-oil booster, nights 3 & 4 would require a repair moisturiser.  Then you repeat the cycling. If you are under 40 and you would like to skin cycle you would need to change the moisturiser to a repair cream. However you could choose to use a repair cream on nights 3 & 4, and then use hydration sparkle in the daytime with a sunscreen over the top.

OTHER PRODUCT OPTIONS

If your skin is dry, we recommend swapping out the enzyme powder cleanse & peel, and replacing it with All-in-one cleanse & peel as this will increase moisture within your cleansing routine.

OVER 40’s CARE

SIGNS OF SKIN AGEING

Our OVER 40’S CARE routine is for those who are experiencing signs of skin ageing, such as: expression lines, sleep lines, and wrinkles. Generally this age group sees lines emerging around the eye and lip contour area and forehead.

Quite often we see clients really benefit from the body resurfacing micro-peel and milk, it is especially popular for reducing dry skin on the hands, arms, elbows and knees, and over time it makes a real difference to age spots on the hands. However if the age spot are significantly dark they can be treated with spotless ultra-serum (on the pigmented areas only) and this will speed up the reduction in dark patches. It is always important to protect your skin with sun protection products when you are using retinol or on a skin resurfacing / cycling program.

Retinol is an important part of your skincare routine when you reach this age group, and starting retinol in the mid to late 20’s will definitely give your skin an advantage. We suggest lower doses of retinol for younger skin and gradually building up the strength of retinol for older skins.

So let’s look at the difference in our three retinol products. Firstly we have Squalane RETINOL. This product contains a high percentage of nourishing squalane, with 0.5% of Vitamin E and 0.3% of pure retinol. It is a great starter product and works really well with our skin cycling routines and it provides additional nourishment. The next product is Retin-oil booster, the main difference to squalane RETINOL is the texture, and it has double the strength Vitamin E, a powerful anti-oxidant (1% Vitamin E & 0.3% pure retinol). Then our third retinol product is called Super retinol fluid. This contains 1% pure retinol in liposomes, 1% ET-Vitamin C and 0.5% Vitamin E, along with other powerful ingredients such as Niacinamide which has a brightening and balancing effect, and bakuchiol, which is the equivalent of retinol but less irritating to the skin, therefore this fluid is like a double boosted retinol serum with a powerful anti-oxidant infusion. For those who have been using retinol for some time it is an excellent step up, providing far more benefits.

OTHER PRODUCT OPTIONS

If you like a silky foam cleanser then your can replace the all-in-one cleanse & peel with enzyme powder cleanse and peel, or you can alternate the cleansers. You can also swap out the caviar activator for pha or ferulic activator depending on your requirements, and if you wish to change the caviar cream for a vegan friendly cream, this can be changed to Ice cream repair if you prefer a nourishing cream that leaves a film on the surface of the skin, or age-less cocoon if you like a nourishing cream with more resurfacing properties.

If skin cycling the caviar activator should be used once every 4 nights, with the super retinol fluid applied on the night following the caviar activator, again every 4 nights. Caviar repair is applied on the nights where the Caviar activator and Super retinol fluid is not used, nights 3 & 4 in the cycle.

INTENSIVE AGE CARE

ADVANCED SIGNS OF SKIN AGEING

Our INTENSIVE AGE CARE routine is for those who are suffering from both dynamic and static wrinkles.  Generally this age group sees deep lines emerging around the eye and lip contour area, nasolabial folds, forehead and cheeks.

ADDING TO YOUR ROUTINE

Additional products that can be introduced into your routine, include: Ultim-eyes cream, and Ultim-eyes mask.

When we are treating skin that requires an intensive skincare routine we will always look to recommend a mask that can be used at home along with an eye cream to achieve optimal results in the shortest time.

Generally with over 40’s care / and intensive age care, skin types in this group are more prone to menopausal skin changes. It is therefore important that we balance the amount of daily chemical peel that is feed to the skin and we need to be more cautious of possible dryness and sensitivity. Therefore age-less cocoon which contains the highest amount of chemical peel within our moisturiser range may not always be suitable and we would consider caviar repair or ice cream repair as an alternative option. Again all-in-one cleanse & peel has stronger resurfacing properties and so it could be swapped for a cleansing option that would be more suitable for the whole routine.

Quite often we see excellent benefits from the body resurfacing micro-peel and milk, it is especially popular for reducing dry skin on the hands, arms, elbows and knees, and over time it makes a real difference to age spots on the hands. However if the age spots are significantly dark they can be treated with spotless ultra-serum (on the pigmented areas only) and this will speed up the reduction in dark patches.

It is always important to protect your skin with sun protection products when you are using our products and especially when on retinol or on a skin resurfacing / cycling program. Ekseption sunscreens have a lower pH therefore they will not disrupt the resurfacing process.

A repair cream (Ice cream repair, Caviar repair) will need to be applied on the nights where the Ferulic activator and Super retinol fluid is not used, nights 3 & 4 in the cycle.

OILY & ACNE CARE

SKIN BARRIER REPAIR

Our OILY & ACNE CARE routine is for those who are experiencing oily skin, break outs or acne / pustules. Generally this group finds that their skin is more reactive. It is therefore important to simplify and be consistent with the homecare routine for a period of time until positive changes are seen. We recommend that you seek out a ekseption skin specialist to assist you and to provide the correct advice, as oily & acne prone skin can often be unpredictable, especially in the early stages of treatment, and a skin purge may occur, especially when you change products. We find that this skin type has very good success with chemical peel treatments in combination with the homecare routine. A timescale of 3 months is the average, and generally expected period of time that it takes to make great strides in rebalancing the skin, therefore the homecare routine is normally simplistic and consistent.
